Receiving God’s Healing

A Christian must be fully convinced that it is God’s will to heal. By His stripes and by the ultimate sacrifice He made for mankind on the cross (1 Peter 2:24), Jesus has already purchased healing for us.  However, he or she must understand that there is a process that the Word of God clearly teaches when it comes to receiving the provision of divine healing. Those who want to receive healing must remove all doubt in their minds and believe that this is part of God’s will for them.

One of the issues among Christians is that they are not aware that Jesus has already healed them. As a result, they often question whether it is God’s will for them to be healed. When you doubt in your mind, faith cannot exist. The Apostle Paul admonishes us in Hebrews 11:6

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

If you want to experience the healing Jesus already provided for you, exercise your faith. Extinguish your reservations and stop wavering with your beliefs.  To receive restoration for all aspects of your being, you need to set aside some of the things you might have gotten used to.

 Hindrances to Healing

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”James 1:6

To receive the gift of healing, a person must be willing to eliminate the things that bring doubt. The wavering mind must stand firm in their faith and practice it in every area of their lives—especially in their well-being. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says that we are to be “steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” We must also continue to persistently seek God so that we may know His direction for our lives.

What many Christians might not be aware of is that religious traditions can be a hindrance to their healing. While traditions are not entirely wrong, some believers have held these at a higher value than what God explicitly says in His Word.  Some of these practices are also unscriptural, preventing people from practicing their faith by applying God’s Word.

Fear is also another hindrance to a believer’s healing. God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Holding on to fear nullifies our faith. It opens up our hearts for more doubt and keeps us from moving forward.

Now that we know why we don’t receive healing, we must focus on strengthening our faith to see the manifestation of God’s promises.

The Steps to Receiving God’s Healing

When it comes to the Kingdom of God, everything is exchanged through the currency of faith. The manifestation of healing starts not in the body but in the spirit. It works from the spirit outward. Like many people, we might think we’re waiting on God to receive healing but what we need to understand is that God has already done it. God is waiting on us

The Scripture says, “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:2). Jesus’ atoning sacrifice for our sin and sickness have brought us salvation and healing.

For us to receive healing, the first step is to believe in the rhema—God’s word that was spoken for us. This means holding on to God’s Word even when feelings and external situations seem to be going against it. While these things have a purpose in our lives, we shouldn’t let these become our truth. We must believe that God, who gives life to the dead can call those things which do not exist as though they did (Romans 4:17).

The second step is to stand on the rhema. Once you have received God’s Word, you have to declare it and practice it in your life. Even as you’re going through symptoms or treatments, applying God’s Word and not letting doubts and fears consume you will manifest God’s healing in your life.

And the third and final step is taking action. There are many ways God can bring healing into your life. Guided by the word He has spoken, you must do what He calls you to do. James 2:26 says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” You must take action. Is there something God requires you to do for the healing to manifest? Go back to the first two steps to understand the action you must take to fulfill the healing process.

Understanding how God heals is important for every Christian. We already have everything we need in Christ. The key is for us to appropriate His Word as we seek, pray, stand, and take action for what we want to see manifest in our lives. Our unfailing and everlasting God keeps His promises.
